Our lawful bases for the collection and use of your data

Our lawful bases for collecting or using personal information for service updates or marketing purposes are:

  • Legitimate interests – we’re collecting or using your information because it benefits you, our organisation or someone else, without causing an undue risk of harm to anyone. All of your data protection rights may apply, except the right to portability. Our legitimate interests are:

    • We have a legitimate interest in keeping rescue centres and potential adopters informed about the development of our platform and related services. Our goal is to build a service that meets the real needs of users, including animal rescue organisations and individuals interested in adoption. Communicating updates, service improvements, or opportunities to participate in shaping the platform (e.g. via surveys or events) benefits users by giving them a voice and keeping them informed about something they have shown an interest in. We only contact individuals or organisations who have expressed an interest in Love Rescues and provide an easy way to opt out at any time. We believe the impact on individuals is minimal, while the benefit of staying engaged and co-creating a better system for animal adoption is significant. We take care to avoid any unnecessary or intrusive communications and balance our interest in growing the platform with the privacy rights of our users.

For more information on our use of legitimate interests as a lawful basis you can contact us using the contact details set out above.

Our aim is to design a platform that genuinely addresses the needs and challenges of rescue centres and adopters. This helps us make evidence-based decisions and ensures the service is user-centred, ethical, and fit for purpose. The information collected is handled with care, used only for internal planning or anonymised analysis, and is never used in a way that could cause harm or lead to unwanted contact.
